Bowl Gasket Replacement On A Small Engine Carburetor

by Jeremy HIPA 13 Dec 2022 0 Comments

This blog is a step-by-step instruction for replacing the bowl gasket on a Briggs and Stratton small engine carburetor. The most common reasons for replacing the part is if it is damaged or missing.

Replacement

Before you begin the replacement, you need to make sure the engine has cooled.
Step 1: Use a 5/16 inch nut driver to unthread the two mounting screws securing the air filter cover. Remove the cover and the air filter then unthread the screws securing the filter base. Pull the choke lever off so you can move the base out of the way.
Step 2: Now use a half inch wrench to unthread the main jet from the bottom of the carburetor bowl, set the bowl aside and remove the old gasket to install the new bowl gasket.
Step 3: Align the new gasket on the bottom of the carburetor. Reposition the bowl then thread and tighten the jet to secure it. Insert the two mounting screws through the base then align the base and thread the screws into the carburetor.
Step 4: Replace the choke lever. With the pre-cleaner positioned in the cover followed by the air filter with its rubber gasket facing outward. Align the cover on the base and secure it with the screws.
With the repair completed, your engine should now be ready for use.
